school age classes

Pre Requisite for School Age Standard: Child MUST be attending Primary School in 2020. Should your child be home schooled they will need to be 5 by 30 April 2020 to be eligible for School Age Classes.

Depending of the amount of dancing your child has been exposed to in their preschool years, most beginning school aged children enter our School Aged Classes: Primary and Grade 1 Ballet. In these classes we introduce ATOD and RAD syllabi. This lets us infuse our classes with some different exercises and we also really start to develop appropriate techniques and expose students to the language of ballet in these age ranges.

Children in this age group have the opportunity to participate in multiple performances and exams.

Primary and Grade 1 dancers also have the opportunity of learning other styles such as Tap & Jazz and Hip Hop.

We are super excited to be adding Jazz to our School Age classes in 2020. Jazz is the most popular style of dance among dancers. Jazz pulls from all dance styles mixing them together to create a high energy style that knows no boundaries. Jazz is most often set to up beat popular songs of the time. Jazz shoes are worn with a leather split sole allowing the dancers foot more freedom to bend and move. Due to the upbeat music, power packed moves and limitless style, it isn’t hard to see why this is the most popular dance style!
